Curta Typ 1 - Liechtenstein 1953 - mechanical calculator
Thisl Curta Typ 1 calculating machine is an engineering jewel built back in 1953 and still in perfect condition today. But what makes this machine even more special is its epic history dating back to World War II.
Today, the Curta Typ 1 is considered the pinnacle of mechanical engineering and represents a precious testimony of a difficult and painful historical period.
Its creator, Curt Herzstark, was imprisoned in a concentration camp where, despite the terrible conditions, he managed to perfect the design of this calculating machine. He managed to convince his tormentors of his importance and the machine was finally conceived.
The dimensions of the machine are compact, with a length of only 85 mm and a weight of 250 grams.
